Hayes on Tsongas and Taxes

Kurt Hayes, our candidate for Congress in the 5th Congressional District, rightly called out Niki Tsongas in the Lowell Sun today, because she voted for the Largest Tax Hike In History. (Hereafter known as the LTHIH)

The charges of broken campaign promises, denied by Tsongas, offer a glimpse of how Republicans will campaign against the Lowell congresswoman this fall when she faces re-election to her 5th District seat after her special-election victory last October.

"It surprises me because I remember very clearly from the campaign when she was talking about tax increases, it was on the wealthiest 1 percent," said Boxboro Republican Kurt Hayes, who plans on challenging Tsongas again in November after his first bid as an Independent came up short.

Hayes also expressed frustration that House Democrats rejected a Senate-proposed one-year moratorium on "pork-barrel" spending, supported by both Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
