Rep. Jones (R-North Reading) amendment #60: This amendment prohibits the Transportation and Infrastructure Authority of DOT from exploring or collecting tolls on any roadway that is currently not tolled without the express authorization of the legislature. This amendment would provide extra protection to the toll-payers. Rejected by the Democrat Party
Rep. Polito (R-Shrewsbury) amendment #39: Would have required that any toll increase to the Mass Turnpike west of route 128 not be collected without the express authorization of the legislature. This amendment would provide extra protection to the toll-payers. Rejected by the Democrat Party
Rep. Jones (R-North Reading) amendment #67: Would have directed 5% of the yearly capital budget be set aside to assist in refinancing existing debt at the Turnpike and MBTA. Rejected by the Democrat Party
Setting the stage for higher gas taxes
Rep. Peisch (D-Wellesley) amendment #148: Would require that any fee or toll charged on or a road, highway, tunnel or bridge be used for infrastructure purposes in the region from which it was collected. Thus, any future tolls may not be enough to properly fund debt service, setting the stage for the gas tax hike. Adopted by the Democrat Party
