House Republicans

Brad Jones and the House GOP are pushing a measure to require fingerprint voting on the House Floor. Sounds like a great idea, but how will the Democrats vote while sipping pina colada's (with little drink umbrellas) from the beach?

Oh... they won't? That's the point?

Hmm.. sounds something like transparency.

Patrick Tax Cut?

The Herald reports Brad Jones' reaction to Deval Patrick's attempt to "cut taxes."

"House Minority Leader Brad Jones said he “laughed all the way to work” today after reading a headline indicating that Gov. Deval Patrick is seeking to cut corporate taxes with a proposal that would essentially drain hundreds of millions from firms in the short run, then phase in a 1.2 percent rate cut over three years.

“There is no way you can consider it a substantial (tax cut) when, at the end of the day, you’re taking nearly $2.3 billion from businesses, and giving them back $500 million a few years down the road,” Jones said."

Deval's Year In Review - Boston Herlad

Here is what Brad Jones had to say regarding Deval Patrick's first year in office:

“The year in review was lackluster, nondescript and left a lot of unanswered questions,” said Jones (R-North Reading).

“You can make an argument that we got less done with one-party government than when we had two parties,” he said.

Mass Democrats: Iran, Cuba, Syria, North Korea

The Democrats in the Massachusetts State House were pushing a bill to require the state's pension fund to divest from companies doing business with Sudan.

House Republicans, led by Brad Jones, agreed and asked "why stop there?"

The GOP moved to add Iran, Cuba, Syria, and North Korea to the list but Democrats refused to move along with this amendment.

The GOP then withdrew Cuba, Syria, and North Korea and pursued only with Iran.

The Democrats response: No.

Brad Jones said "There's probably been more debate in Iran today than in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It's a disgrace, a disgrace,"
