Cape Cod Political Notes

"State Rep. Jeffrey Perry, R-Sandwich, will be at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center this week to visit with wounded soldiers and to deliver thousands of holiday cards from schools, individuals and organizations that responded to Perry's plan to forward cards left at his office to the soldiers.

Perry said the response was "overwhelming," and rather than box the cards up and mail them to the Washington, D.C., military hospital, he and three others decided to deliver the mail personally and tell the soldiers how much support they have from the Cape.

Perry will be accompanied on this trip by his chief of staff Taylor White; Doug Dexter, a retired Marine Corps lieutenant colonel and former Sandwich selectman; and Dave Neal, a Vietnam veteran and administrator at the Barnstable County Sheriff's Department."

"Interested in becoming a more active Republican in Mashpee? Then Republican state committee member Ricardo Barros has just the thing for you — an organizational meeting at 7 p.m. tomorrow in Room 2 at the Mashpee Town Hall. Barros and other party members want to give the Mashpee Republican Town Committee a boost with an eye toward the 2008 election year."
